With about thirty sites, Quercy is one of the regions in Europe that is especially rich in cave art.

In this area, Pech Merle lies at the centre of about ten painted caves. For conservation reasons, the others are closed to the public. The museum has on show a selection of figures from these inaccessible caves.

The reproduction and study of the Pech Merle cave are presented with an analysis of the remarkable works and reproductions of inaccessible figures in the cave.

The question of the conservation of prehistoric paintings and the use of the cave by animals are also covered.
