Welcome to our section specifically for tourist industry professionals from the Lot or elsewhere.

Here you will find advice and information so that you can inform your clients as fully as possible on all matters relating to a visit of the Pech Merle cave.

Advice on the proper preparation of a visit to the cave

In order to preserve the paintings, admissions are limited to 700 per day. It is necessary to book in advance in order to visit the cave ; and especially in summer, during school holidays and at long weekends.

Advise your clients to make their booking several days ahead ; a week ahead in summer.

Usually, there are fewer visitors on Saturdays, including during the holiday season.

The temperature in the cave is a constant 12°C., visitors may need to bring a coat/jacket, etc.

Before going into the cave, visitors are invited to look around the on-site Prehistory Museum, with its documentary film (English subtitles).

We are always very interested in our visitors’ opinions : direct comments, satisfaction surveys, comments on Trip Advisor or Facebook….

If you require further information, please see our “practical info” pages, and if necessary, please phone us.

Communication

Our tourist leaflet with a plan of the site is the major medium of communication for Pech Merle. A poster for larger-scale visibility uses the same visuals.

We will make these publicity media available to you on request.

If you need a picture for the needs of your tourism business, or for local promotional purposes, we can supply a few pictures free from rights of reproduction. For this, please address your request to : bertrand.defois@pechmerle.com.
